USDDN Qualified teams and non-qualified Frisbee Dog teams attending the USDDN US National FinalsCongratulations to the teams who have already qualified for the 2008 USDDN US National/International Finals to be held in Cartersville, GA Oct 18-19, 2008.  There will also be an Open Qualifier on Friday Oct 17 from 2pm-7pm for anyone that would like to compete in a last chance qualifier.  The USDDN National/Internationals Finals includes invited teams of 55 Qualified Freestyle teams and 55 Super-Pro Teams from across the USA, Canada, Japan, and Europe QualifiersSo, mark your calendars.

This year the USDDN will have TWO (2) Qualifying divisions:

Freestyle Overall The top 5 new Freestyle teams from each of the USDDN Qualifier eventswith 2 alternate teams to roll down are available are invited to the US National Finals.

Super-Pro Toss & Fetch The top 5 new Super-Pro Toss &  Fetch teams from each of the USDDN Qualifier events – with 2 alternate teams to roll down are available are invited to the US National Finals.

All Qualified teams have until 45 days before the finals (deadline which is September 3rd, 2008 USA time EST) to notify the USDDN Championship Series Coordinator, Ann Farmer at annshepard4@hotmail.com or me Melissa Heeter at melissaheeter@comcast.net to confirm that they will be attending the US National Finals.   If any of the 5 Super-Open Freestyle or 5 Super-Pro Toss & Fetch Qualified Teams in each individual Qualifier have not indicated their intent to attend by the deadline, then the 1st alternate team from that event will be contacted and invited to attend the US National Finals in place of the ones that have not confirmed and then the 2nd Alternate will be invited or if another team does not commit or the 1st alternate can not make it.  If there are open slots still available after the deadline (the slots must be available in the tournament you Qualified in – No person can take an open slot in another Qualifier) and then any of the previously Qualified teams and or approved Alternates teams will be accepted up to the day before the event as long as you have contacted Ann and or myself.     If you have not confirmed and want to attend please contact Ann Farmer at annshepard4@hotmail.com to check on your status.   In addition to the USA Qualifiers there will be teams from the Canada, Japan, and Europe event attending the US National Finals leading to the International Finals.

The USDDN has passed a new rule that states if there are any open slots 30 days before then all of the alternate teams will be invited in order of the dates of the tournaments until all of the original slots are filled or all of the original alternates have been invited.    So, it is very important that if you have previously qualified you must contact Ann Farmer by Sept 3rd.

All of the Qualifiers will receive an email invitation package with all of the pertinent information about the time, date, place, hotel information, Friday night mandatory competitor meeting (random draw of the competitor starting order), Saturday reception information, schedule of events, format, and details needed for this years US National/International Finals via email or if no email is available then by US Postal Service.

Recommended vaccination records only

Do not forget to place your vaccination records, no health certificates are needs unless you are traveling internationally.   All International teams attending have already been notified to what paper work they need for their respective countries.

If you are an International Competitor please contact me, Melissa Heeter, at melissaheeter@comcast.net and I can help you get the appropriate International documentation for your travel with your dog.  Some countries only need an international health certificate; some countries need an international health certificate stamped by the US Department of Agriculture.   So, this may dictate which airport you fly into and out of, as well as, if you do not follow your own countries rules there may be Quarantine requirements when you go back to your own country.  As of right now Japan teams are the only teams that have to follow very strict international rules.

QUALIFIED TEAMS WITH TWO DOGS – the USDDN has a new rule which allows a person to compete with two dogs in two different qualified divisions or with the same dog in the two different divisions.  There are a few people that have Qualified with two dogs in one division, or the other, or even the same dog in both qualified divisions.  The USDDN now allows a competitor to try to qualify with as many dogs as you want; however, any one person can only compete with one dog in each qualified division.  If a person has Qualified with two or more dogs (the second, third or more dogs are back up choices) in the same that division, then they can chose to compete with any of their qualified dogs that they have previously Qualified with at the Friday night Random Drawing(for any additional dogs to Qualify as a backup dog it has to come above the 5th placement of the tournament finishing, NOT the 5 place Qualified teams in Freestyle and respective of 5 in Super-Pro T&F). The PERSON earns the slot that they Qualify with at a specific contest and will take the guaranteed slot before any alternate slot.

If a person has Qualified with the same dog in both qualified divisions NOW the competitor CAN COMPETE in both Qualified Divisions in the USDDN US National Finals on Saturday.

GA State Frisbee Dog Championships will be held on Friday Oct 17 and will offer a last chance Open Qualifier.  The competition will be from 2pm-7pm and we will limit the registered teams to 30 teams in each division.  Registration will be onsite at 12noon.  If you are traveling and want to compete in the Friday Open Qualifier please contact me Melissa Heeter, melissaheeter@comcast.net .    Anyone can compete in this Open Qualifier; however, we will roll down to the top 5 new teams for an invitation to Saturday’s USDDN US National Finals.  GADDC will also offer Argus Cup Points for these two divisions and all of the Saturday non-qualified divisions.

NON-QUALIFIED DIVISIONS

We will be offering a Division II Freestyle, Pro Toss & Fetch, Novice and Junior handler competitions on Saturday.  Only non-Qualified Freestyle competitors can compete in Division II Freestyle. However, if a person is only Qualified in Super-Pro Toss & Fetch and wants to compete in Division II Freestyle they can, because all of the Super-Pro Toss & Fetch rounds are on Sunday, even with their Super-Pro T&F dog.  Any Freestyle Qualified competitor can compete in Pro Toss & Fetch even with their Qualified Freestyle Dog or with another dog (you will not get any special treatment in line at the second field as the Pro, Novice and Junior divisions are walk up divisions within their own divisions.  So, the basic rule of thumb is if you are Qualified in Freestyle you CANNOT compete in Division II Freestyle with any dog, but you can compete in Pro T&F on Saturday.

The USDDN will also hold 4 other separate non qualifying divisions: Freestyle Division (Division II – for non qualified teams) which has one round of Freestyle 120 seconds and one round of Toss & Fetch 90 seconds, a Pro Toss & Fetch Divisions (with one round of Toss & Fetch eliminated to the top 10 teams for a second round), a Novice/Beginner Toss & Fetch Division (with one round of Toss & Fetch eliminated to the top 10 teams for a second round), a Junior Novice Kid’s 12 and under Toss & Fetch Division (with one round of Toss & Fetch eliminated to the top 10 teams for a second round) for any competitors that have not Qualified, but want to take part in the festivities.  The Super-Pro Toss & Fetch Division is NOW a Qualified division, but is still on Sunday.  For non Qualified competitors any one Dog can only compete in two divisions or with two players in any one day.

NEW this year, PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN TENTS.  You can drive up unload, and load up directly on the track.
