All of today's competitors earned points towards the Club's Annual Argus Cup Award and the Junior Handler of the Year Award, which rewards participation and consistency at Club events throughout the year. We were pleased to see a number of new competitors across all divisions, whether they be first timers, or some of our familiar faces rising steadily up through the ranks. 

Disc Dog Southern Nationals Junior Champion and GADDC members, Christian Stevens and Smokey won the Junior Division. This team now leads the Junior Handler of the Year Award by 1 point. As usual, the Novice Division saw a number of new competitors, and first place went to Rick Goldstein and Stella. One of the Club's seasoned competitors Steven Heeter took out the Pro Toss and Fetch Division, with Ariel Ally.

The Freestyle divisions also saw a number of new and exciting teams. First place in the Open division went to GADDC members Susan Markham and The Mighty Carolina Hurricane from Charlotte, NC. In the Super-Open division, 19 year-old Daina Rollor and her Aussie Shepherd, Mick was victorious with strong Toss & Fetch and Freestyle rounds. The Best Small Dog Award went to David Hibbert and his Jack Russell Terrier, Taj. The Crowd Pleaser Award went to Richie Rich and Dollar (alias Curt Satrom and Alex). The Club also conducted an Accuracy competition using the copyrighted rules of the National Capital Air Canines (NCAC) with Damian Noud & Kristal winning (Thank you NCAC). Congratulations to the winners and to all those who came out to have fun today.

Thank you to all of our hard working volunteers who arrive early to set up the field, help get our competitors registered, judge, add scores, do our field announcing, and generally keep the competition moving smoothly. We hope that you have your diaries marked for the Disc Dog Summer Classic to be held in Anderson, SC on May 26-27, over the Memorial Day weekend. This exciting event will be a two-day event held in conjunction with the Pontiac GMC Freedom Weekend Aloft, following the same format as the Disc Dog Southern Nationals. The event, sponsored by Purina and Bi-Lo will feature world-class judges from interstate, and there will be $3000 prize money up for grabs.
